I undertake practical contract work including coppicing, tree planting, hedge laying, and felling. I am fully qualified and insured, and am registered with the Forestry Industry Safety Accord (FISA). Please contact me to discuss your project.
Coppicing
I cut ‘in-rotation’ coupes, and undertake coppice restoration projects (this usually involves a ‘first cut’ with extensive layering to increase the density of hazel stools).
Hedge Laying
Restoration of “Plantations On Ancient Woodland Sites” (PAWS)
This is the restoration of ancient woodland which had earlier been replaced with a conifer plantation. The non-native specie conifers were harvested in order to allow in sufficient light for the native broadleaves and associated natural woodland flora and fauna to return.
